Role description

As Treasurer, your main responsibility will be to ensure all expenses are correctly logged and paid. This includes opening the Student Division's business bank account over the summer (close to term time). Your role involves an ability to communicate clearly with sponsors and other members of the society about what has been paid and what can be afforded, as well as budgeting the school year’s activities. 

Responsibilities and general duties of the role

  • Contact and arrange sponsors for the society. This entails drafting a sponsorship proposal and corresponding with law firms, barrister chambers, etc. to secure sponsorships. 

  • Help the overall functioning of the Society and play an important role in decision making, especially about the financial feasibility of certain events being planned.

  • Collaborating with other members for events planning. You will be delegated around for different projects depending on your availability. 

Qualities needed for the role

  • Responsibility – as, in this role, you will be dealing with the Student Division's fund and expenses, it is important for you to be very cautious and precise with regards to any dealings.

  • Detail Oriented – as Treasurer, you will be expected to keep accurate and up-to-date records of the Student Division's finances.

  • Independence and Confidence – the Treasurer must be ready to open up an entire business bank account and communicate with sponsors which can be intimidating.
