Inclusions Officer

Role description

This is an executive position. As the Inclusion Officer, you are responsible for ensuring that all tasks are performed in a fair and unbiased manner. The core objective is for LWOBxUOM to remain non-political as a society. So, the role will involve you overlooking and ensuring that the society’s social media posts, bulletin and upcoming events are completed with the aim of promoting good relations towards minority groups. The Inclusion Officer is involved in the recruitment of new members so you would be expected to perform this with no bias or prejudice.

Responsibilities and general duties of the role

  • Ensuring fairness. Ensure that all viewpoints are evenly considered to present a fair, unbiased and well-informed discussion between members of the society. 

  • Collaboration. Be prepared to multi-task and volunteer to help in other parts of the society. 

  • Communication. Be the voice of the members in ensuring everyone is being represented.

Qualities needed for the role

  • Attention to detail – an inclusion officer must have great attention to detail to spot any potential bias found in the social media posts, bulletins or event ideas. 

  • Interpersonal skills – this role involves an interaction with all members of the society so an ability to interact with different personalities whilst also communicating and listening to each one is essential.

  • Awareness of current Human Rights issues – being up to date with current global and cultural issues will enable you to perform your role to a high standard and to ensure that all tasks are completed with a consideration of current events.
